In all my time, the biggest complaint I’ve heard with food is that it’s hard to plan and prep. That’s the part of the week people struggle most with! How weird is that!! But so accurate.

Coming from living a life life where it was just me to worry about, to feeding a family of four, was definitely a life change. So I had to figure out the best way to meal plan that would cause me the least amount of stress.

Here’s what I do to simplify meal planning:

-Pick a day to meal plan.

-Make themes for each day to make it more simple, here’s mine for example:

  1. Monday-try something new/a potatoes dish
  2. Tuesday-Mexican dish
  3. Wednesday-pasta dish
  4. Thursday-Asian/rice dish
  5. Friday-Sunday varies because we are out a lot for sports, family functions, etc. so we usually do eating out or if we’re home we make something as a family like pizza or something. Sunday’s usually are with extended family or I’ll do something with the slow-cooker.

-Use resources such as Walmart app (I mainly use because it’s free), Safeway app, Albertson’s app, etc. to make shopping easier and managing your time. Totally and 100% worth it. Plus you can add to the list throughout the week when you think of something you need.

-Get a whiteboard/chalkboard to put in your kitchen to list the daily meals on so that everyone knows (including yourself) what’s for dinner that day so no questions asked.

-Use Pinterest to the best of your ability and make lists of foods you want to make. Then make a more simplified list on paper or your phone so when it comes time to plan, all you have to do is look at the list and put it down for a day. Super simple! P.s. USE WASTED TIME TO LOOK ON PINTEREST FOR IDEAS! Instead of going on Instagram or Facebook while you’re on the toilet or watching TV, use your time wisely to find good ideas for meals.

-And the most important part is to make sure that vegetables are served with EVERY MEAL! Both cooked and uncooked. Get some greens pre-washed in the fridge with a tray of vegetables you can easily make a salad with or just put out the veggies to eat. Get some broccoli, asparagus, or zucchini to add to the meal. Make it easy and simple. Your plate should be full of color!! Not just shades of brown 😉

Let me know if you have any questions regarding meal planning or if you have any other easier ways to do it – I love improvements!!
